History Lessons ...

Time hung about in little jars above their heads, the trick was how to catch them.

Whilst doodling one day I came up with an idea for a story based on how fairies or magical creatures might learn history. I imagined that it would be a lot more interesting than normal lessons. That time might be caught in jars that could be opened and watched or experienced before being placed back into the jars. I plan to develop this into a story with other lessons like maths and science but I couldn't help drawing out my first idea anyway.

The Changelings

These are some spot illustrations I drew for a story I just finished writing and which I submitted to Bridge House Publishing.
The story follows the adventures of a girl called Harriet who is abandoned one summer and forced to stay with her eccentric Aunt. Harriet finds magic at the bottom of the garden and three Faery changelings living next door with old Mrs Conway and her cat Ferdinand.
Harriet was watering the plants in the garden with a dreadful rainbow coloured watering can

Changelings are the offspring of Faery creatures; they are mischievous and enjoy making messes. They should be bought up by strict parents or they soon become unruly and then require a strict schedule of meals, baths and early bedtimes to correct their naughty behaviour …

... a round empty fishbowl is unexplainably tempting to a naughty Changeling or if this fails to entice them with honey smeared nets and then failing that sugar cubes and a good telling off.

... she noticed a round black and white cat sat on the top of the wall that separated her Aunt’s garden from next door.

More black and white trials

A logo design for the contact information lables that I stick on my handmade cards.

These two images were inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. I wanted to capture some of the magic that you can find there.
